Aedre’s Firefly Concept Art: Boss man Genghis Ogre
It’s Watercolour Wednesday once again, and today I have a quick Aedre’s Firefly concept sketch, inked with a .05 Copic Multiliner and coloured with Winsor Newton Professional Watercolour.
I liked the way his expression turned out. Slightly amused at this time, but he still has a dangerous look about him, that if he is suddenly not so amused, there is going to be trouble, and you don’t want to be in the vicinity when it happens.
Ogre Skin Tones
Still working with various skin tones, I added some quick splashes of watercolour. I wanted an other-worldly look, a cold look to the skin, and enhanced that with warming up the areas around the head. The pale oranges in the skin came out a little too strong in the photo.
Aedre’s Firefly Concept Art: The Dragonfly Ogre
Extremely sketchy Concept Art done in pencil doesn’t turn out well when photographed as you can see in the next image. I had to fiddle with it in Photoshop to get the lines to show up, but at least you can see where I was going with it.
This is a concept that has been with me since my eldest daughter was seven years old and I made up a bedtime story about a little girl who, in spite of being frightened, captured a monster in a trap. The monster was called the Dragonfly Ogre. This is the first time I’ve tried to draw him. But a bit more work and he could be pretty fearsome, I think!
And now he’s found a new home in Aedre’s Firefly.
So that’s it for today. Hope you enjoyed it. See you Friday for more discussion about Patreon.
