Aedre’s Firefly Graphic Novel is on Medical Hiatus due to an eye injury complicated by an inherited condition called corneal dystrophy.
This week’s Guest Strip has been lovingly crafted for us by none other than Carlo Jose (Caz) San Juan, MD. Caz creates Callous Comics, which is a about a young doctor named Rianne Nicah who has a fantastic secret life (kinda) ;`). (Caz let me borrow her as the doctor in my guest comic for Bo Lumpkin. I’ll add in the link for that later.) Callous Comics is a wonderful family-friendly read. You can settle right in and shre it with the kids, too. Someday, I’m sure Disney and Warner Bros, will be vying for the animation rights! See for yourself. :`)
Thanks a whole bunch, Caz!
Kudos to anyone who picks up on the reference in Caz’s Aedre strip… :`D
Many thanks to George, Bo, Caz, Bearman, Malveka, and Midtoon for jumping in on short notice to help me out with Guest art and Comics!
If you’re a new reader click here to start closer to the beginning of the story…

I always loved that cartoon where the guy finds the singin’ frog. I think of it every time I see a frog in a top hat. Great work Caz… I love it.
Hope you are getting better Jande. The guest shots have been great but we are missing Aedre.
Yeah, it’s one of my favorite Looney Tunes episodes. “One Froggy Evening”, I think? :D
And thanks, Bo! Glad you liked it! :)
I’m really looking forward to catching a view of that episode soon.
You did a wonderful job on this, Caz! Thanks so much for helping me out!
Strangely enough, I have never seen this episode. I loved Caz’s cartoon before Mal told me about the Loony Tunes one. :`)
The eye doctor says I’m getting better, thanks, Bo! I’m still having trouble working on Aedre however since I’m often seeing through a haze or even seeing double. He did say it would take a long time–months– but he’s happy with the progress. Happier than I am.
I’ve run out of guest comics now, and no others have come forward, though I was promised one more. And I don’t like to pester people so…
There will be something up next Wednesday, don’t doubt it. Aedre has updated every Wednesday since I committed to telling her story.
You guys have saved my bacon by helping me out so eloquently!
Here’s a copy I found on YouTube!

Glad to know things are getting better with your eye!
Oh, that’s just awesome! We also watched a remake of it called “Another Froggy Night” or something, but it was tedious. Let well enough alone, I say. LOL That first one was great! Thanks for the link!
You’re right, Caz! Nerbert has a way of upstaging anyone he’s in a scene with. Great guest comic! :)
Thanks, George! Even in dull times he finds a way to show off his charisma! Haha!
And one day perhaps we’ll meet his Irish/Scottish cousin from across the pond! Then we’ll see who upstages whom… ;`)
Wow, that would be a dream! To have Callous animated?! Sigh…
It’s an unwritten rule that anyone can use Rianne in their comic as a visiting doctor as long as I know about it. She’s not called the “Webcomic Doctor” for nothing! :D
I’d pay to go see an animated Callous Comic! I mean, really animated the way Disney or even Pixar (How To Train Your Dragon style, though I usually don’t care for the plastic looking modelling) would do it. You just have the perfect balanced touch in both storytelling. Your work is truly heartwarming. I love it! Thank you!
Wow thank you so much! If I could have my way I’d have it animated traditionally with mixed CGI elements and have it directed by Don Bluth. But a “How to train your dragon” look would be fantastic! :)
In the meantime, we’ll have to endure my meager efforts in animating Rianne and Cal Duck here:

Good job on those walking animations! What did you use to make those?
I would particularly like to see animations of the Black Queen ones interspersed with Rianne’s daily life as a “lowly” Earth doctor. Would be so cool.
Old fashioned way! Each frame was penciled and inked on paper then scanned. Colored and animated into a *.mov file using Photoshop. Took me two days for those collective 3 seconds. Haha!
haha…Only you Carlo. Well it would have been me if I thought of it first. Great job.
Hey thanks Bearman! (bows and tips top hat)!
“Everybody do the Michigan Raaaag..!”
Bravo! Carlo, your guest comic scores twice, beautifully. First, with the reference to Nerbert upstaging everybody when he appears. Second, with the reference to the ironically hilarious episode of Looney Tunes. One of my personal favorites as well, BTW. I guess that makes it a double entree of frog legs. :P Great work!
Thanks Malveka! So glad you like it! :D As for the frog’s legs, stewed or fried? :D
There’s a less obvious reference as well in the dialogue in the second panel to Beauty and the Beast. Specifically the song, “Be Our Guest”. ;)
Beauty and the Beast is another one I haven’t seen. *sigh* Gonna get caught up one of these days…
Ha! Great guest strip!
Thanks Rolando! :D Glad you like it!
Yes it is! Have you seen the others? If not, hit that “previous” link.
Cartoons by Bearman, George Ford, Midtoon, Bo Lumpkin, and even Mal stepped down from his ivory programmer’s tower and made one for me!
I -LOVE- it ! [grin]
Isn’t Caz wonderful? If he wasn’t a doctor I’d hug him! <3
Aw shucks, usually the white coat attracts hugs too… :)
Thanks buddy! Glad to hear it!
Good Lord, it’s the “Michigan Jay” frog…now all I can think about are lousy shows on the old WB channel!
I actually got a kick out of Michigan J. Frog being the channel’s mascot. But that’s pretty much all I got a kick out of from there. :D
